The University Honors Program

The Honors Program provides enriched courses, as well as special programming, for the student of proven ability.

Students who decide to earn the Honors Program diploma take a number of Honors courses during their program of study, and write an Honors Thesis project their junior and senior years. They then graduate with an Honors diploma and key.

  • 3.7 GPA or top 10% of high school class, and

  • 29 ACT or 1290  SAT

Students may also enter the Honors Program after their first or second years, or as transfer students, based on their college GPAs of 3.5 or above.

Benefits

In addition to the academic benefits of participating in the Program, incoming first-year Honors students:

  • Are awarded a level of academic scholarships from the Office of Financial Aid.
  • Can apply for grants for international research, Honors Thesis projects and for travel funds to present their research at scholarly or professional conferences.
  • Are guaranteed University housing for four years and are eligible for Honors housing and residential programming.
  • May participate in special Honors Program events such as the annual Lawrence A. Ruff Honors Author Program, Honors Art Exhibition and Honors Students Symposium.
