Honors Thesis Project Timetable of Requirements

Honors Thesis Timeline – 2007-2008

JUNIORS

 Honors Program

 Berry Scholars

Early October:
Honors Thesis  Workshops

Honors Program students will attend two sessions: Part 1 and Part 2, of the four scheduled.

Students complete the HP Diploma Qualification Form.

Berry Scholars will attend the two scheduled sessions in their Systems Design seminar time slot.

Students complete and hand in the BSP tracking information form.

October 31:
Workshop Report due

Students will submit the required workshop report – (review representative theses, interview current seniors, discuss a possible topic with at least one faculty member.)

October-November:
Registration

Students register for the first three hours of Honors Thesis credit.

Mid-January:

The Associate Director will conduct follow-up meeting with students regarding their progress.

January 31:
Initial Thesis Information Form due 

Students complete the Initial Thesis Information Form and the Initial Proposal Form; the Thesis Advisor must be chosen by this date.

March 14: (optional)Research Grant Proposals due

Students who request funding for their thesis projects must submit a Research Grant Proposal. See Guidelines for more information.

March:

Students register for the remaining three hours of thesis credit: 08/FA

April 30:
Intermediate Thesis Progress Form is sent out.

Thesis Advisors will be e-mailed the Intermediate Thesis Progress Form. Students and advisors must sign and return. Depending on progress, you may wait until September to complete this form.

 

SENIORS

 Thesis Students

August-September 28:

Students writing theses set up an individual appointment to meet with the Director about thesis progress.
 

September 14:

The Intermediate Thesis Progress Form is sent to advisors.

September 28:
Intermediate Thesis Progress Form is due in HP Office
 

The student and advisor must both sign the Intermediate Thesis Progress Form and return to the HP office.

October:

The HP Office will contact students who have not responded, or who are making unsatisfactory progress on their thesis.
 

December 6:
Thesis Final Grade Form due for students graduating in December
 

The Thesis Advisor will return the Thesis Final Grade Form to the HP Office for any students graduating in December. (Students need to receive at least a “B” to qualify for the University Honors Program or Berry Scholars diploma.)

January 20:
Honors Students Symposium Registration Form

Seniors will complete the on-line Symposium Information Form to register their thesis information for the Honors Students Symposium.
 

February 29:
Honors Students Symposium

Seniors will present some of their thesis research and methodology to undergraduates in the Honors & Scholars Programs at the Honors Student Symposium.
 

March 31:
All Honors Thesis Projects are due in the Honors Office.

The completed, printed Honors Thesis Projects along with a CD or DVD version are due in the Honors Office. The Honors Program will support the printing of four copies of the Honors Thesis Project at the UD Copy Center. Please check the Center well in advance to determine how long they will need to finalize the printing of your project on a timely basis.

Thesis Advisors will return completed Thesis Final Grade Form to HP office.
 

April 9:
Bro. Joseph M. Stander Symposium
 

Students will present their thesis research at the Stander Symposium.

April 15:
Thesis Final Grade Form due for students graduating in May
 

Deadline to receive grades for May graduation.
