Earning Honors Credit

In addition to choosing individual Honors-designated courses, University Honors students may also earn Honors credit in a variety of ways.

Through Participation in CORE

While the CORE Program is purposively not designed exclusively for Honors students, students who successfully complete the CORE curriculum receive well-deserved recognition from the University Honors Program.

In total, students who successfully complete the CORE Program's curriculum as described above receive credit for having completed four University Honors Program-designated courses. Students who do not take ENG 114, receive credit for having completed three Honors-designated courses.

For more information on the CORE Program, see: http://academic.udayton.edu/Core.

As a Chaminade Scholar

While the Chaminade Scholars Program is not designed exclusively for Honors students, students who successfully complete the Chaminade Scholars Program receive recognition from the University Honors Program. Because the required courses in the Chaminade Scholars cluster are Honors-Program designated courses, students who successfully complete the three Chaminade Scholars seminars receive nine (9) credit hours (three course credits) toward the Honors designated degree. Chaminade Scholars are encouraged to enroll in the ASI 111-112 sequence (the CORE sequence); students who successfully complete ASI 111-112 receive three credit hours (one course credit) toward the Honors designated degree. The Chaminade Scholars Program also provides opportunities for Honors students to engage in important research, service and leadership experiences, and international learning.

For more information on the Chaminade Scholars Program, please see http://pcl.udayton.edu and click on Chaminade Scholars Program.

With Completion of a Cluster

Students in the University Honors Program may also receive credit for one Honors-designated course by:

  • Completing any of the approved clusters or a self-defined cluster, and

  • Completing an integrative project.

The integrative project must make use of materials from courses from three different domains and must address the theme of the cluster.

The integrative project and its presentation is therefore an additional means by which to accumulate Honors-designated course credit toward completion of the Honors Program-designated degree.
